Hello everyone,

I have completed my September design team project for The Piece By Piece.  It is an altered kraft gift bag that I covered with lace and then added a piece of paper from the Webster's Pages Ladies & Gents Tea Time to create a pocket.  Inside the pocket is a tag that I will decorate with a picture and journaling for my friend.
I used trims, silk ribbon and the following other goodies from The Piece By Piece:
Wheat Spray - Vintage Pink:  http://www.etsy.com/listing/155486059/wheat-spray-2-tone-vintage-pink?ref=shop_home_active
Wheat Spray - Clear:  http://www.etsy.com/listing/119354151/wheat-spray-2-tone-clear?ref=shop_home_active
Silk Ribbon - Champagne:  http://www.etsy.com/listing/155459904/2-yards-silk-ribbon-sk02-champagne?ref=shop_home_active
Floral Venise Lace - Taupe:  http://www.etsy.com/listing/119333929/1-yard-floral-venise-lace-3821-mocha?ref=shop_home_active

TPBP - DT Project - Banner on a Spool and Gift Box

Hello Everyone,

I have just completed another design team project for The Piece By Piece which can be found at www.thepiecebypiece.com.  I made a Mini Happy Birthday Banner that rolls up on a vintage spool.  This would be perfect for anyone's birthday or any occasion.  The recipient could hang up their banner for the occasion and then when finished with it, roll it back on the spool, and tuck it into the pretty little box to await the next occasion.  I also made a small birthday card to go with the banner.  The box that the spool fits in was just a box I think I had purchased from Michaels some time ago.  It had a dark pattern but I painted it with a creamy pink paint and then covered the edges with paper from the Divinie Collection from Prima.  I also added lace and trim to the box.

I used laces and trims from The Piece By Piece as well as the papers from the Prima Lyric and Divine collections that I had purchased from the store some time ago.   The items used are as follows:
Cream Venice Lace - http://www.etsy.com/listing/155478565/1-yard-venise-lace-in-cream-tl-71-810?ref=shop_home_active
Fancy Shear Lace - http://www.etsy.com/listing/155481289/1-yard-fancy-sheer-lace-7029-cream?ref=shop_home_active
Narrow Celery Silk Ribbon - http://www.etsy.com/listing/155461030/6-yards-silk-ribbon-sk18-celery?ref=shop_home_active
Antique Pink Scallop Trim - http://www.etsy.com/listing/155337288/2-yards-alterablle-scallop-trim-antique?ref=shop_home_active
Cream Galon Lace:  http://www.etsy.com/listing/128170433/1-yard-galon-lace-in-7520-cream?ref=shop_home_active
Pink Lace Trim - Out of Stock
Cream Fan Lace - Out of Stock

I covered the paper on the card and the box with some of the lace trim.  I just love the look.  You can still see the pattern of the paper but it has the lace covering - very similar to the clothing we are seeing in the stores these day.  Designers are covering all kinds of print fabrics with lace.  It is beautiful.

My Craft Room

Hello Everyone,

I finally have my very own space for crafting and I also do some office work in here as well.  I had been sharing this space with my husband but he very kindly moved his desk out.  This has been a dream of mine for some time and I am enjoying it so much.  It is a little room on the side of my garage but it does have air conditioning and a heater.  I have tried to make it pretty but very useable as well.  So, here are some of the pictures:

Here is the view as you come in the outside door:
My copier is mixed in with a bird cage display of beautiful cards I have received, some ribbon spools and a basket full of rosette trims:
There are plenty of shelves on this wall to house some of the many glass jars I use to put all my lovely crafty items in.  It is inspiring as well as very useable to see the items that I have.  This is also where I do my sewing.
This is my view of the river.  The corner unit is on wheels and I have both my Cricut and Sillhouette on it so I can move it around to use.
The top of the armoire has my dyed and crinkled seam binding in a wire basket as well as my vintage off white laces and baker's twine.  The armoire houses many supplies and tools.
This is my computer work area.  The top shelf has many of my flowers separated in glass jars by color.  The shelf has clear plastic boxes with my fibers by organized by color, brads, beads, etc.  I have found that for me organizing by color works the best.
A close up of my flowers in the jars:
I put my buttons in little glasses - all separated by color.
This is my regular desk area.  The jars on top have miscellaneous ribbons organized by color.  The turning stand on top of the file cabinet has my glitters, gesso, glues, etc.
A closer view of over my desk:
 An even closer view:
This took a while, but all my beads are sorted by color in this tool organizer.  It works so well for me and is handy to have right on my desk.
Hope you enjoyed the tour.  Thanks for stopping by.

Janet

Altered Cigar Box - Tea Party

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to share with you a cigar box I created for the Tea party swap I was in.  I was so pleased with the results.  I get these pictures in my head and am so happy when they come out just as I had envisioned.

Here is the video of my cigar box:
And here is the video of my card and all the swap items all wrapped up.  I just love gift wrapping and presentation, too.
I would love to hear from any of you that are reading any of my posts.  I am new to the blogger scene although I have been creating YouTube videos for over a year.  Would love to know if I should continue to pursue the blogging part.

Thanks so much,
Hugs,
Janet

I have just completed my June project for The Piece By Piece.  I used Beverly's amazing trims to create a mini album of the baby shower we had for my youngest daughter.  I loved using the trims because I knew I wanted to use a lot of pictures and I knew I wouldn't have room for a ton of embellishments - so the trims and lace worked perfectly.  My niece, Jessica LeAnne Photography, out of San Diego, took most of the photos and she did a fabulous job.

The following video takes you through each page of the mini:

Hello Everyone,

I have a new project for you.   I am in a swap with Free Spirit Cigar Box swappers and the theme is Tea Party and we must use fabric in some way.  The second project for the swap is an altered teacup.  I am showing the altered teacup now but will wait and post the cigar box after my secret sister receives it.  I want it to be a complete surprise.  I must say though, I think it is one of my best works.  So, stay tuned for that one.  For now, here is the lovely teacup.  I embellished it with goodies from The Piece by Piece.  I also made a lavender sachet teabag to go in the cup.  I love how it turned out.

Canvas Created for a Friend

Well, it has been a while since my last post.  We spent two weeks in Ecuador with my sister and brother-in-law.  I was able to give my sister-in-law her muslin roll for her 50th birthday and she absolutely loved it.  Since then I have been trying to play catch up.

Here is a 6 x 6 canvas I created for a friend of mine who recently had surgery.  I decoupaged a napkin over the canvas, added glossy accents for the bird's eye and then added some of Beverly's gorgeous trims from The Piece By Piece and some flowers:

Here is my design team project for February for The Piece By Piece:

I created a Muslin Roll for my sister-in-law's 50th Birthday.  We will be in Ecuador with her on her 50th birthday and I wanted to take her a homemade gift (she has always loved handmade gifts) but it needed to be small since we have to pack light.  I took two strips of muslin that were approx. 3" wide by 50" long and sewed pieces of  laces and trims from The Piece By Piece.  I also stitched a vintage measuring tape across the top so I would have 50".  I then sewed both pieces together - leaving the frayed edges out.  I then embellished each sides with pictures from Julie's 50 years.  It was perfect because aren't our lives like little pieces of this and that stitched together to make life.  I printed the pictures out on fabric paper so they would be flexible when the roll was rolled up.  The links to the items I used from The Piece by Piece, the store and my video are all below:

Heart Shaped Easel Cards and Gift Wrapping

I had to hurry up and make the cards and wrap the bottles that I showed on my last post.  My oldest daughter was going to visit my youngest daughter and I wanted her to take them with her.  So, I made them each an heart shaped easel card and wrapped their bottles up in boxes.  I didn't have time to take individual pictures, but here is the video of the cards and gift wrapping:
Have a lovely day,

I'm back with another Valentine's Day project.  I decorated some glass jars I purchased from Michaels.  They are long and narrow and have a glass fleur des lis at the top.  I wrapped a picture that I colorized in Printshop and printed on Watercolor paper around the jar.  I added beautiful WOC products to decorate the jars:

At the top and bottom of each paper piece I added some Guipure lace from Wild Orchid Crafts.  I made the corset using rivets and then Vintage Seam Binding from Wild Orchid Crafts laced through the rivets.  I decorated the sides with silk ribbon, pearl sprays, flowers and charms - mostly from Wild Orchid Crafts.  I filled the jars with candies that matched the color schemes.
See the video for the project:
